Community Alert: Jewish Man Assaulted in Toronto

PRESS RELEASE

07/29/21: The Abraham Global Peace Initiative (AGPI) strongly condemns an assault on an innocent Jewish man in Toronto yesterday. In that incident, the man describes being attacked and pushed to the ground on the street with the assailant shouting antisemitic epithets. The attacker said, "F...you, you Jew. You will never take Israel. Free Palestine".

On the heels of assaults on Jewish people and property following the war in Gaza, AGPI continues to stand in solidarity with the Jewish community. "We call on authorities to denounce this outrageous attack and continue committing policing resources to serve and protect the Jewish community" said Avi Abraham Benlolo, AGPI's Founder and Chairman.

AGPI's Vice President, Leora Shemesh, a prominent criminal defence lawyer says she is concerned about the rising level of antisemitism that is plaguing our country and believes that these types of hate crimes ought to be investigated to the fullest extent. Those who are violating our Canadian principles of freedom and democracy ought to be prosecuted through the criminal justice system.

The organization is working double-time to put together intensive programs and advocacy campaigns to stop antisemitism in its tracks. Already, it has booked a high level Global Conference on Antisemitism for November 7th, 2021 and a series of workshops which will be launched this fall. AGPI's National and International Advisory Boards comprised of high level leaders in policing to help combat hate and intolerance.
