Morocco and Israel Normalize Relations

PRESS RELEASE

Morocco and Israel Normalize Relations:

Avi Benlolo Congratulates Moroccan Officials

12/10/20: After much anticipation, Morocco and Israel announced just hours ago that they have reached an agreement to normalize relations. President Donald Trump tweeted, “another historic breakthrough today! Our GREAT friends Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco have agreed to full diplomatic relations – a massive breakthrough for peace in the Middle East!”

“On the heels of this announcement, I spoke with Mr. Andre Azoulay, a Senior Advisor to His Royal Highness King Mohammed VI to offer my congratulations on behalf of the Jewish world. Similarly, I congratulated Mr. Elmehdi Boudra of the Memouna organization in Morocco that has worked hard over the last 14 years to advance interfaith relationships between Muslims and Jews in the region” – said Avi Abraham Benlolo.

“In a radio interview on 770 CHQR in Calgary today, I conveyed the importance of this peace agreement, especially on International Human Rights Day and the first night of Chanukah. This is a significant step for Middle East peace as Morocco and Israel have pledged to normalize relations, including the immediate opening of liaison offices in Rabat and Tel Aviv followed by eventual opening of embassies”.

“Speaking from Bahrain, renowned journalist Ahedya Al Sayed expressed to me her delight about this additional peace agreement that will continue breaking down barriers between Israel and Arab nations”. As part of the announcement, Trump said that the US would recognize Morocco’s claim over the disputed Western Sahara region.
